October 2022
Ballet Northwest recently completed its 52nd year and we couldn’t have done it without donor support. Thank you for being a part of BNW’s rich history! With the support of our patrons, we were able to return to a full season of performances at the Washington Center, pushing our dancers to new heights and delighting audiences. We’re excited to announce BNW alumni have recently secured positions with the Joffrey Ballet Studio Company, Eugene Ballet, Ballet Idaho, and Pacific Northwest Ballet professional division, among others. Many more have taken the discipline and valuable lessons learned through the BNW company into their college and professional lives.
Artistic Directors Ken and Josie Johnson are excited to announce their fifteenth BNW season, featuring The Nutcracker (December), Olympia Dance Festival (March), Don Quixote (May), and the Young Choreographers Showcase (August). This year’s BNW company is comprised of 65 talented dancers age 12 and older, plus we’re thrilled to announce that guest artist Sanford Placide (Dance Theatre of Harlem) will be joining us again for The Nutcracker. In addition to master classes with highly regarded guest ballet instructors, BNW is providing mental health, diversity, nutrition, and college preparation seminars to the company to nurture healthy and well-rounded dancers.
BNW’s school outreach program continues to grow, led by teaching artist Carolyn Fry who has graced the stage locally as well as at the 5th Avenue Theatre. Already this fall BNW has introduced over 5,000 elementary school students to the art of dance in thirteen schools across Thurston and Mason counties!
We need your support to continue to grow these important performance, education and outreach programs. Please see the giving levels below and consider making a donation. Annual Fund donors of $100 or more receive access to prime seats at our shows at the Washington Center! You can donate online here – recurring payment plans are available! Or, if you prefer, you can mail a check to Ballet Northwest, PO Box 2888, Olympia, WA 98507.
Thank you for your support!
